This is our familys 3rd CubicFun 3D puzzle and the first one aimed at the older family members. Its hard to over compliment the products from this Company. The puzzles are so well thought out, from the instruction manual (each assembly step is clearly illustrated) to how the many pieces are presented in numerical order. All the pieces went together flawlessly, there was never an instance where a piece had to be forced in. The fact that this puzzle includes 10 LED light bulbs is a wonderful bonus. You will definitely enjoy constructing Saint Basils Cathedral.
This puzzle was a lot of fun! It arrived two days ahead of time, and it is all fairly straightforward. Two suggestions:1. When doing the LED lights, I had them pop out a lot, and it was very frustrating. I recommend going to the store and buying some super-glue. It made a world of difference, and the lights stayed in place.2. Based on previous reviews, I was nervous about the domes. Each dome has 8 sides, and they are connected in 2 sets of 4. Instead of putting each whole set on at one time, I would just rip them into the 8 individual sides and attach them one by one. It was far easier! I glued them together as well. The maker of the product could make the domes easier to assemble. The dome (brownish red and green squares) was the easiest, but it is different than the others. The other ones had this piece on the top that wraps around the cross. The piece needed to be longer because it left a noticable gap. It was hard to put in place.Other than that, I loved this!
This was so much fun to put together. Unlike a lot of other 3D puzzles, this is not a jigsaw but a construction set. Definitely more challenging than some others Ive done, I had trouble with the smaller onion domes (Nothing a little tape couldnt help!)It looks gorgeous, very impressive, and the LED lights are really festive. Ive also made the Tower Bridge puzzle by this company, which was very easy and also a lot of fun.
Our grandson loved putting this model together. The pieces fit together well and it was a lovely activity for him.
I first bought the capital building for my son. He had been asking for the lego version but it is retired and super expensive. I loved that it took him several hours to complete, another problem with lego architecture builds he can finish them in under an hour. He got the Russian Cathedral yesterday and loves it yes he built it in a day but it took him about 5 hours which is GREAT!! the lights are a really fun addition and they look great displayed in his room. I see myself purchasing more for him and this will probably be my go to Christmas gift this year.
